For example, it shows a serving size of 14 g (normally 15g) and a total fat content of 14 g! If that were the case you'd have a bag of oil! The fat content is actually 40 to 45%. Some other nutrients show 0 when that is not the case, such as protein, which is actually 3 g and about 20%.
The mill had been experimenting with various types of pouches for the milled flax. Also, they obtained their own printing equipment a couple of years ago.
The previous batch of milled flax with plastic bags allowed printing right on the bag, but there were some other problems with those bags. Previously they had tried a stiff paper bag. Now they have returned to the original foil bag.
Evidently there was an oversight in preparing and printing the new labels for this batch of milled flax with the foil bags. It may have been due to the rush to get the product to us in the USA before the tariff on Canadian goods was implemented.
Please refer to a previous label or our Flax Profile page for correct information until we receive milled flax with correctly printed labels in the future. The nutritional details on the current bags of whole seeds is correct.
